Day 2 in DC

May 5, 2011

We woke up Wednesday to cold weather and rain. Mr. Scoville brought breakfast to us, we ate in the hotel and we were off to the Jefferson memorial and the capital. Our tour guide was one of the best. Mary has given tours for over 20 years and did a great job keeping everyone informed and interested in the history of our amazing capital.

In the afternoon we visited Martha’s pantry, which is one of the biggest and well known outreaches in DC. Before we left we collected and gave them over $750, of which $270 was collected by the kids and adults.

We finished the evening with a 1st for the 8th grade DC trip. The dinner cruise on the Potomac was actually the dinner FUN and dance cruise. It turned out to be clean fun for the kids and could be a new fundraiser for the school. All the photos and videos taken at this event could generate  income at auction!

A Note from the Nurse

April 25, 2011

From Nurse Roberts:

Our trip to D.C. is quickly approaching and as part of your busy preparations I wanted to remind you of a few things concerning medications.  All medication - either prescription or over the counter, must be given to me before departure.  I will have available Tylenol, Tums, and Caladryl.  I will be administering all medications, both prescription and over the counter, based on your written instructions.

All medication must be in their original packaging with label attached.  If you will be providing any over the counter medication such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Zyrtec, Claritin, Aleve, Cough medicine etc., I will administer them to your son/daughter as prescribed.  If you are going as a chaperone you may administer your own student’s medication as needed.

I am looking forward to this adventure with your student and am committed to meeting all their medical needs during our fast-paced journey.
